A rendering of what the Cambria will look like when it's complete in August.

New Downtown Cambria hotel will open in Westown in August

Downtown's new Cambria Hotel, currently under construction at 503 N. Plankinton Ave., on the corner of Clybourn Avenue, has announced that it will open in August.

The 132-room hotel is being built by Chicago-based Murphy Development Group (MDG) and will be managed by Concord Hospitality.

Stan Ramaker of the Fond du Lac-based M+A Design designed the interior of the hotel, which includes 77 king rooms, 50 double queens and five suites that include wood floors, spa-style bathrooms with Bluetooth mirrors, Beautyrest St. Pierre plush mattresses and Smart Television technology.

There is also 1,300 square feet of meeting space, an indoor pool – a rarity among Downtown hotels – a fitness center and a courtyard. The lobby will boast a fireplace, as well as a bar and restaurant.

"We are thrilled to open this new property," said David Noel, general manager of Cambria Hotel Milwaukee Downtown, in a statement.

"In light of Milwaukee's strong identity, our team found endless inspiration that embraces the hotel's overall design. Cambria Hotel Milwaukee Downtown will be a truly unique property within our brand. We are excited to see this project come together and bring this hotel into such an energetic and optimistic community, full of entrepreneurs and startups."
