Slice of Ice opens on Wednesday with free skate rental

Slice of Ice, the ice skating rink at Red Arrow Park in the heart of Downtown, opens Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. And to celebrate the start of the season, free skate rentals are available from 4 to 6 p.m. (Skate rentals are usually $7 for kids ages 17 and under; $9 for adults.)

Skaters with their own ice skates are free all day, every day.

Toddler-sized plastic skating supports will be available for a $1 rental fee and $5 refundable deposit or photo ID. For people with limited mobility, ADA ice sleds are free to use but must be requested 24 hours in advance.

On Friday, Dec. 21 Slice of Ice will host its first Ugly Sweater Day, presented by WaterStone Bank. Skaters who participate will receive a coupon for a free skate rental in January or February and will have a chance to win prizes as part of the Slice of Nice contest.

Slice of Ice is open Sunday-Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The rink will have extended hours over the holidays.

The complete schedule and school field trip information are available here or by calling (414) 289-8791.
