WATCH: Talking hoops with Harlem Globetrotter Hoops Green
The ball drop may be the country's most famous New Year's tradition, but in Milwaukee, we prefer a NYE tradition with a different ball: a small, red-white-and-blue striped basketball spinning on fingers, dribbling on the wooden court, flying through the air and eventually swishing through a hoop.
A Cream City tradition for close to a half-century, the Harlem Globetrotters will ring in the new year in Milwaukee by demolishing the eternally despairing Washington Generals – and having a whole lot of fun in the process, both on and off the court. This year, the Globetrotters will play two games – at 1 and 6 p.m. – at Fiserv Forum on Tuesday, Dec. 31, with a whole new show in tow.
And who better to let us know what's new for 2019 than an actual Harlem Globetrotter? We dropped by Fiserv Forum to chat with Hoops Green, a Globetrotter since 2017, about what excitement – old and new – this year's "Pushing the Limits" world tour has to offer, as well as try to get into the mindset of a Washington Generals player and teach me how to spin a basketball on my finger. (Spoiler alert: It went poorly.)
