9 places to watch the Brewers in the NL Wild Card game

It took a scorching September, but the Brew Crew is back in the playoffs – making history with the franchise's first back-to-back postseason visits since the '80s.

Sure, Yelich's kneecap is still powderized. And yes, Lorenzo Cain is being held together by athletic tape and wishes. And I know the last three games of the season in Colorado were sub-encouraging – but it's the playoffs! In the wise words of Dane Cook (boy, that's an uncomfortable statement) there's only one October – and the Brewers are in it. Anything can happen once you make the postseason – and hopefully, for the Brewers, that anything starts tonight at 7:08 p.m. with a Wild Card win in D.C. over Max Scherzer and the Washington Nationals.

Considering it's a one-game loser-goes-home battle, though, the Brewers will need all the support they can get, and to make sure the Crew can hear Milwaukee all the way out in D.C., several local bars and venues are hosting watch parties – many complete with drink specials, giveaways and, of course, the game plastered across their biggest screens. Here are nine places hosting watch parties where you should watch the Brewers hopefully make some more history tonight.

1. The MECCA Sports Bar and Grill

1134 N. Vel R. Phillips Ave.
(414) 908-0401

The MECCA and The Deer Garden The Beer Garden may live in the shadow of the Bucks' home, Fiserv Forum, but they also know how to represent for Wisconsin's other beloved sports teams. Case in point: The massive sports bar and eatery will host a Wild Card watch party tonight in the Brewers' honor – complete with the game plastered across The Beer Garden TV and the venue's gigantic 38-foot-high screen that's even bigger than Ryan Braun's game-winning grand slam against the Cardinals last month. And in case a mammoth screen isn't enough to get you to The MECCA, there will also be drinks specials and prizes throughout the night to hopefully give you even more than just a Brewers win to celebrate.

2. Leff's Lucky Town

7208 W. State St., Wauwatosa
(414) 258-9886

The Brewers might need a little bit of luck to get by the Nationals in tonight's one-game playoff – hey, we all saw the Rockies series; don't shoot the messenger – so why not go to Leff's Lucky Town to hopefully amp up the good vibes headed the Crew's way. And if you need more convincing, the popular Tosa tavern will feature $1 MillerCoors taps during the first inning, free home run shots for every time the Brewers go long, and other specials and giveaways throughout the game. Plus, if the weather cooperates, Leff's will have the giant screen blasting the game on its gorgeous patio.

3. Broken Bay Brewing Company

231 E. Buffalo St.
(414) 316-9197

What better place to watch a key Brewers baseball game than a taproom and brewery named after the sport – where even a former Brewer Tim Dillard brewed up two beers of his own. The taproom opens at 4 p.m., so drop by this Third Ward beer-atorium, cheer on the Crew in the Wild Card game and drink a Broken Bat's Golden Sombrero pilsner or Straight Chedd apricot pale ale – a perfect sports-themed pairing!

4. 4th Base

5117 W. National Ave.
(414) 647-8509

Again, if you're going to watch the most important game of the Brewers season, you might watch at a place named after baseball – and where they even filmed a scene from "Major League." And as a special bonus, 4th Base will feature a special tapping of Three Floyds' Zombie Dust as well as its seasonal Muensterfest to cheers every Brewers run. Or just to cheers making the playoffs.

5. The Brass Tap

7808 W. Layton Ave.
(414) 301-4054

Rooting on the Brewers in the burbs? The Brass Tap and its mammoth lineup of brews in Greenfield has you covered, showing the Wild Card game while serving up $3 select drafts, 5 for $15 buckets of craft and domestic brews, and a Brewers jersey giveaway after the game so you'll have some new gear to wear to hopefully the next round of the playoffs.

6. Drink Wisconsinbly Pub

320 W. Highland Ave.
(414) 409-1740

Celebrate a hopeful Brewers victory like a Sconnie at Drink Wisconsinbly Pub in Deer District, where the home-state icon will serve up happy hour specials from 2-6 p.m. plus free food cooked up around 6 p.m. to give you a nice soaker pad for all the champagne we'll be drinking and spraying after the game.

7. Redbar

2245 E. St. Francis Ave.
(414) 212-8470

Ignore that Redbar is painted red – aka Washington Nationals colors – because inside the St. Francis hidden gem will be all Brewers tonight for the Wild Card game, as well as $3 domestic tall boys and tasty barbecue served up by the venue's in-house meat masters, The Saucy Swine.

8. The Brick

6343 N. Green Bay Ave.
(414) 797-0710
thebrickpubandgrill.com

Get wild (responsibly, of course) for the Wild Card game at The Brick in Glendale, which will serve up the game with $3 microbrews plus blue jello shots every time the Crew scores a run. Here's to the opposite of a pitcher's duel!

9. Oak Barrel Public House

1033 N. Old World 3rd St.
(414) 897-8320
oakbarrelmilwaukee.com

Come down to Old World 3rd Street to watch the Brewers game – complete with sound! – at Oak Barrel Public House, with $3 Miller Lite tallboys and $7 tall Tito's mixers to help hopefully celebrate a playoff victory.
