"Tall timber tents" for rent in Hubbard Park

If eating, drinking and hanging out in a heated canvas tent in Hubbard Park sounds fun to you – we know it does to us – then you're in luck. Two "tall timber tents" have been temporarily erected in the Shorewood park and will be available for people to rent starting the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 18 and most likely through March.

The canvas tents, which are similar in concept to the Lux Domes on the roof of Cafe Benelux, seat eight people comfortably, but according to organizer Russ Davis, can accommodate up to 12 people.

The interior of the tents include a propane fire pit, knotty pine benches, carpeting, pillows and other soft flourishes to create a space that's both rustic and comfortable.

"It's pretty warm in the tents, but you'll still want to dress for winter," says Davis.

Guests rent the tents for two-hour increments and choose from about a dozen different food and drink packages from the onsite Hubbard Park Lodge. Rentals, including a drink package, start at $120.

During the day, the tents are family-friendly, but for adults only after 4 p.m.

"The tents are ideal for social and family gatherings. Basically for anyone who wants lean into winter instead of running away from it," says Davis.
