"Jimmy Kimmel Live" will help live stream select Summerfest 50 shows

In April, Summerfest announced this year's lineup of ground stage headliners with the help of ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," and it appears that wasn't the end of their partnership, as the Big Gig announced that it will live stream select festival performances across the globe via the late night talk show's newly launched music site, Jimmy Kimmel Live Music.

"Music is in the DNA of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' and the show has a passion for bringing great, one-of-a-kind content to our fans," said co-executive producer Doug Deluca, in a press release. "Collaborating with Summerfest and American Family Insurance to launch such a big initiative made complete sense. Summerfest is the world's largest music festival and has an amazing roster of performances on tap."

"In our 50th year, we could not be more excited to work with 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' and American Family Insurance to take our festival, attended by approximately 850,000 people on site, to millions more online via live stream," added President and CEO of Summerfest Don Smiley, in the release. "With one of the most diverse line-ups available anywhere, we know there will be something for all music fans."

The new live music site will film performances throughout the entire festival, then stream a combination of live and on-demand footage for free for six hours a day on July 7-9. The videos will then be syndicated out to Summerfest's website and the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" YouTube channel.

Summerfest followed the lead of other large music festivals, like Lollapolooza and Coachella, and began live streaming some of its shows in 2015, running the footage on its own website and broadcasting about four hours a night between several stages.
