May kite festival at Veterans Park postponed

The 32nd Annual Wilde Subaru Family Kite Festival has been postponed by Gift of Wings at Veterans Park, but the new dates have not yet been announced.

"For the safety of the Most Powerful Kite Performers in the United States and Canada (you), our thousands of guests, our sponsors and the Gift of Wings staff, it is better to postpone our event," wrote Gift of Wings' Scott Fisher in an email.

"I'll be looking at new dates with the Milwaukee County Parks department, and working with our kite committee to find a different date that works best for everyone."

The event had been slated for May 23-24.

Gift of Wings at the lakefront remains open, as do the locations in Greendale and Franklin, and, says Fisher, the Wilde Subaru Frank Mots Int'l Kite Festival is still planned for Sept 12-13.
