Mark your calendars for Milwaukee's First Oktoberfest at Kegel's Inn
Hallo und willkommen! Milwaukee's First Oktoberfest at Kegel's Inn is approaching and will be fundraising for the West Milwaukee Lions Club.
The event will have room for local breweries to showcase their own twists on German beers. You'll be greeted by more than 40 vendors in a main street leading to the Hofbräu HB Beer Garden at Kegel's Inn.
Listen to German music on the Miller Lite Semi Truck Stage, enjoy Friday Night Fish Fry and sip a German beer from many of Wisconsin's local breweries. Food will be provided by Kegel's Inn and there will be a variety of items such as schnitzel sandwiches and the famous Bavarian pretzel in a Milwaukee knot. Be sure to try the Simma's Cheesecake for dessert, which was voted No. 1 in Milwaukee.
Oktoberfest is wunderbar!
Where: The east end of National Avenue from 58-60th Streets in West Allis.
Hours: Friday, Aug. 24, 4-10 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 25, 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
Admission: Free; wristbands to purchase alcohol will be sold for $3 and can be used all day.
Highlights: Don't miss the free beer giveaway after the City of West Allis officially welcomes Public Table to the growing list of restaurants in the area. The Stein Holding Contest will run every several hours during the weekend and is $20 to enter with nightly contests for men and women. Hold the stein, drink the beer and keep the mug!
New this year, Kyle Cherek, host of "Wisconsin Foodies," will emcee the stein holding contests and announce the voters' choice best beer of the festival Saturday night.
