MTEA plans OSPP opposition rally

As we approach critical MPS Takeover dates put out by County Executive Chris Abele and MPS Takeover Commissioner Demond Means, Milwaukee is ramping up resistance efforts to protect Milwaukee children from a hostile takeover of our public schools.

A large community mobilization to resist the MPS takeover is planned for Monday, June 20 at 2 p.m. outside the Milwaukee County Courthouse. Please join the Milwaukee Teachers' Education Association (MTEA), Schools and Communities United, MPS families, and other public education advocates as we demand public community schools and not a takeover for Milwaukee.

This week, our partners at Schools and Communities United also began running targeted radio ads on 860AM WNOV and 104.7 FM LA GRAND to let our community know Chris Abele is still cooperating with a public school takeover that will fail Milwaukee's children. These ads will be heard by tens of thousands of Milwaukee County residents.

Both ads, one in English and one in Spanish, feature Milwaukee Public School students, parents and community allies asking listeners to help us fight the takeover of our public schools and establish public community schools in Milwaukee.

Please join us outside the Milwaukee County Courthouse on Monday, June 20 at 2 p.m. as we send a strong message to Chris Abele that we will not surrender our public schools to the takeover plan!
