Donate to the Molson Coors shooting victims' families with a new GoFundMe

The aftermath of Wednesday's tragic shooting on the Molson Coors campus in Milwaukee has left many of us with questions. Why did this happen? How could this happen? How can we prevent anything like it from happening again? How can we help the families of those lost?

Today, there's at least an answer to that final question.

In addition to several restaurants and bars donating proceeds to those left behind by Wednesday's awful events, Molson Coors has started a GoFundMe for the "Miller Valley Survivors Fund," a collection to help provide financial assistance to the victims' family members as well as others directly affected. The company opened the GoFundMe this morning with $500,000 of its own money, with the goal of raising $1,000,000.

"On February 26, 2020, our community and brewing family experienced an unthinkable tragedy," reads the GoFundMe page's description. "We lost teammates, parents, spouses, and friends. They were part of the fabric of our company and our community.

"We are devastated by the loss of Dale Hudson, electrician with our Milwaukee Brewery since 2008; Gene Levshetz, powerhouse operator with our Milwaukee Brewery since 2008; Jesse Valle Jr., powerhouse operator with our Milwaukee Brewery since 2014; Dana Walk, machinist with our Milwaukee Brewery since 2004; and Trevor Wetselaar, powerhouse operator with our Milwaukee Brewery since 2018. Our hearts break for their families."

Molson Coors notes in the description that 100 percent of the donations will go toward the victims' fund, and the company itself will not manage the funds raised. Instead, the control of the money will come under the National Compassion Fund, a program of the National Center for Victims of Crime.

"The priority is to give the victim's families the long-term help and support they'll need in the years ahead," adds the description.

As of writing, in just three hours of existence, the GoFundMe has already raised an additional $3,000. To join in and donate to the GoFundMe, click here. Any amount helps.
