OnMilwaukee wins four Milwaukee Press Club awards
OnMilwaukee, a digital media company and publisher of the daily online magazine of the same name, earned four awards from the Milwaukee Press Club.
The honor came in four categories: Best Critical Review (bronze) for culture editor Matt Mueller and his review of Kesha's concert last year at Summerfest; Best Single Editorial, Statement of Editorial Position or Opinion (bronze) for senior writer Molly Snyder for "We need to talk about our daily drinking"; Best Soft Feature Story (gold) for senior writer Lori Fredrich for her profile on The Tandem and its community of employees; and Best Sports Story (gold) for Snyder and creative director Jason McDowell for their profile on the Milwaukee Does, one of the first all-female professional basketball teams.
The results – chosen from more than 800 entries from across the state, as well as across professional and collegiate categories – were for the 89th annual Milwaukee Press Club Awards for Excellence in Wisconsin Journalism competition. Finalists did not know whether they had won a gold, silver or bronze award until the final results were announced and the winners were honored at the Club's Gridiron Awards Dinner, hosted at The Pfister Hotel on Friday, May 10.
Chuck Todd, current moderator on NBC's news conversation program "Meet the Press," was also recognized that evening as the MPC's 2019 Sacred Cat Award honoree, which is presented for journalism achievements on the national level.
