Schivon Young, who was only one test short of obtaining her GED in 2013, is now only weeks away from obtaining a high school equivalency diploma thanks to YWCA's5.09 HSED program, Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service reports.
Milwaukee ranked poorly on a YWCA-commissioned assessment of employers' willingness to hire people with an irregular work history and limited "soft skills," such as showing up on time and getting along with supervisors.
This Friday, Milwaukee's newest lounge, Suite, enters the world of Milwaukee fashion. Its first public event, "Fashion Affair", combines the style of Ma Jolie and expertise of Neroli Salon and Spa. The runway show, featuring 20 models and over 60 looks, benefits the YWCA's "Dress for Success" program.
The Scooter Foundation is one of Milwaukee's non-profit gems, working with kids to prevent gun violence. The group co-hosts a Peace Walk on June 8.
