Though I was born and raised about 1,000 miles from Milwaukee, I grew up knowing the words to Mad Man Michaels' cream city classics - the A- and B-sides to his 1950s-era single: a "Dragnet" take-off called "The Czarnina Kid" and "Michaels Market (Kobasa Song)." Here his recorded oeuvre here.

On Friday afternoon, WMCS-AM 1290 halted its broadcast stunt of all Elvis Presley music to debut "1290 Martini Radio." Milwaukee Radio Alliance stopped its long-running "Talk of the Town" format that featured local and national African-American progressive talk shows last week Tuesday.

WOKY to transform into The Big 920 sports talk

On Jan. 7, WOKY-AM 920 will sound a bit different, changing format to become a sports talk station. Sports is no stranger to the station, which broadcasts NASCAR races, UW-Milwaukee women's basketball games and a number of other racing and sporting events throughout the year.

Milwaukee filmmaker chronicles immigrant experience
