Eight Milwaukee-area breweries responded to a competitor's call for help, joining about 1,400 breweries across the country in brewing batches of Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.'s Resilience Butte County Proud IPA to raise money to help rebuild Butte County, California, after the devastating Camp wildfire.

When Water Street Brewery opened at 1101 N. Water St. in 1987, the idea of a tavern that made its own beer was so new to the city that a newspaper headline put the phrase "brew pub" in quotation marks. Now, with four locations, Water Street Brewery is celebrating 30 years.

Twenty years ago, Water Street Brewery started offering its beer to go in growlers, and recently introduced 16-ounce swing top bottles. They are for sale at all four locations: Downtown, Grafton, Lake Country and Oak Creek.

Oak Creek is getting a taste of Milwaukee beer, and its first brew pub, as Water Street Brewery announced today that it's building in Drexel Town Square, just east of the interstate at the intersection of Drexel and Howell Avenues.

Impressionists' use of color fuels new Cafe Calatrava menu

In a few days "Impressionism: Masterworks on Paper" opens at Milwaukee Art Museum and runs through Jan. 8, 2012. But you can get an early taste of Impressionism already at the museum's Cafe Calatrava, which recently unveiled new entrees inspired by the show. A number of other local restaurants are also unveiling new menus these days, too.

Water Street Brewery opens in Grafton

Water Street Brewery has opened a location at I-43 and Highway 60 in Grafton. Like other WSB locations, the Grafton brew pub will brew beer on-site. The venue opened its doors yesterday.
