After graduating from Marquette University with a degree in psychology in 2007, Liam Ortega decided to pursue his Olympic dream by qualifying for the United States' long track speed skating team as they prepared for the 2010 winter games. But a freak accident in practice in 2008 resulted in brain trauma, causing Ortega to miss out on giving it his best shot. Now, fully healthy - but without his sense of smell - he's giving it another shot.

Like many Milwaukeeans, Alyson Dudek spent time with her family skating at the Pettit National Ice Center. It didn't take long before she became enamored with skating and joined the well-known West Allis Speed Skating Club. What began as a fun hobby quickly turned into competitive passion and in 2010, earned the 20-year-old Hales Corners native an Olympic medal.
A marathon in West Allis? In January? That's right: the InStep Icebreaker Indoor Marathon will take place on the 443-meter running track that encircles the Olympic Ice Oval.
What if the powers that be in this city had the foresight to think on an international level? What if somebody stepped forward and said, "Let's showcase Milwaukee to the world." Why can't Milwaukee host the Olypmics?
