This morning, the Milwaukee Film Festival announced its lineup for the 2015 Cream City Cinema program, which highlights the talents of locally-based filmmakers - and awards one with a $5,000 cash prize. This year's collection of picks includes three documentaries, two feature-length fiction films and four shorts programs - including the debut of the "The Milwaukee Music Video Show."

I go to You Tube, but only to hear the music. I use it more as an audio jukebox than to see the images. In fact, I can't tell you what happens in the videos of the songs I click most on You Tube. I'm not looking, just listening. Does a good video make a song better? Does a bad video ruin a good song? For me, the answers to both questions are "no."

When it appeared on the television scene August 1, 1981, MTV was something no one saw coming. A station that only played music videos? Who would watch that? Now it's a global phenomena minus the 24/7 music.
