"Impressionism" dazzles with accomplished works on paper

"Impressionism: Masterworks on Paper" - organized by the Milwaukee Art Museum in partnership with the Albertina in Vienna - opens Friday, Oct. 14 and runs through Jan. 8 in the Baker/Rowland Galleries of the Milwaukee Art Museum's Quadracci Pavilion. The more than 100 works in the show tell the story of one of the major ways in which the Impressionists shook up Western art.


Leiter's "Street Seen" lessons of New York photography

Last weekend, the Milwaukee Art Museum opened "Street Seen," an exhibit revealing six photographers whose style defined New York Photography in the '40s, '50s and '60s. Last week, I had the chance to sit down with one of the featured artists, Saul Leiter.


MAM's Pissarro show makes a real impression

Although Camille Pissarro isn’t the name that springs to most minds when we think of Impressionism, "Pissarro: Creating the Impressionist Landscape," a major new show that opens at Milwaukee Art Museum on Saturday, June 9, ought to change that.
