However, it became an interesting challenge to research the area, pinpoint a few spots I was interested in visiting and plan what turned out to be a lovely weekend trip that left me both invigorated and refreshed.

La Crosse, located on the western side of the state, is a beautiful city surrounded by bluffs and the mighty Mississippi River. It's a great base city to day trip from to other fantastic places that you probably have never even heard about.

In Milwaukee, few bars have "all you can drink" nights anymore. Adam "Hawk" Griffin, owner of Fire on Water, offered it at his bar every Thursday night for years, but got rid of it in 2016.
