Dining at Maxfield's a few days before, I realized I'd never given Ginza a chance and so I hopped over for lunch last week and was rewarded. Much like its neighbor further south on Mayfair Road - the Mexican eatery Habanero's - Ginza has transformed what could have been a generic interior into something welcoming and warm.

Izumi's, 2150 N. Prospect Ave., has earned a reputation in Milwaukee for friendly, accommodating service, as well as a tasty menu that doesn't break the bank. While it didn't win last year, OnMilwaukee.com readers have again chose Izumi's as their favorite Japanese restaurant. Sake Tumi and Fuyiyama almost tied for second and third places.
