"Inheritance" marks the final chapter in a saga of fantastic proportions

It's been eight years since fantasy author Christopher Paolini wrote the New York Times bestselling novel "Eragon." Today, he has joined the ranks of the genre's most noted authors with his "Inheritance Cycle," a four-book series of young adult fantasy novels that includes the aforementioned "Eragon," "Eldest," "Brisingr" and "Inheritance," the cycle's latest, and final, installment.

And the fanboys cheered as the movie about a dragon rider and his dragon flies into theaters today. But those cheers will be cut off by feelings of disappointment and the idea that a fandom is being ruined.
