Wednesday, Wednesday, WEDNESDAY marks the middle of Bike to Work Week, and what better way to roll over the hump with a little competition, a friendly wager, and some additional cash for a local non-profit? The competition? A race between David Hobbs--a driver in the Indianapolis 500 and owner of David Hobbs Honda - and Ward Fowler, founding partner of the bicycle-friendly Colectivo Coffee.
Ewan McGregor is the subtle star of "Beginners," opening today at the Downer. ... But of course there's "Transformers," with some scenes shot in and around the Milwaukee Art Museum. ... And David Hobbs offers his voice to "Cars 2."
You may not recognize David Hobbs but if you've lived in Milwaukee long enough - or watch racing on television - you've certainly heard his voice. You might even have purchased a car from him. Hobbs, 72, is a broadcaster with Speed Network. Previously, he did work for CBS and ESPN. He's covered all kinds of racing, from open-wheel to NASCAR and now focusing primarily on Formula One events. His car dealership, David Hobbs Honda, is also a sponsor of the Milwaukee 225.
"Cars 2" opens this summer and it will feature Hobbscap, a character based on David Hobbs, majority owner of David Hobbs Honda in Glendale.
