Dandy Warhols release four-hour album to keep you calm during quarantine

Published April 11, 2020

The Dandy Warhols know you're bored right now. They are, too, having been forced to cancel a tour and self-quarantine like the rest of us. But in their stash of unreleased material, the band found a four-hour treasure trove of instrumental jams, and put it out online.

The Dandy Warhols' Zia McCabe previews their Chicago show

Published May 6, 2019

The last time we talked to Portland's Zia McCabe, the synth/bass/percussion player for the Dandy Warhols, we barely talked about music. These year-end lists are always fun to write, because they are so open-ended. So bear with me if I skip the regular categories and think outside the box a little for this one.

Dandy Warhols, fans share secrets of good music, great city

Published Sept. 27, 2014

I've been lucky enough to see the Dandy Warhols live several times over the last few years. But each time, I've had to travel to Chicago or Madison to hear them, which is a small sacrifice for one of my favorite bands over the last 15-plus years. So the opportunity to see the Dandys at Turner Hall was a welcome one, and as usual, provided for a great venue to see the Portland-based band Saturday night.

BJM's Anton Newcombe previews Friday's Turner Hall show

Published Aug. 15, 2012

On Friday, The Brian Jonestown Massacre will play its third show in as many years in Milwaukee, visiting Turner Hall for a 7 p.m. gig. It's hard to classify this band, but having seen their last two shows in Milwaukee, I can safely say that BJM is one of my all-time favorites. From his home in Berlin, front man Anton Newcombe said he likes playing in Milwaukee. "Turner Hall is right next to a German beer garden, right?"

The Brian Jonestown Massacre puts on a rock show clinic

BJM quite literally put on one of the best shows I've ever seen Friday. With eight musicians on stage, including a surprise addition of original guitarist Matt Hollywood and tambourine player Joel Gion, the band pounded out song after song in an astounding three-hour set.
