Agents and their families flock to Milwaukee every year this week, and each year I love the buzz that's created by adding 11,000 visitors to Downtown Milwaukee. As a community, we need to champion the corporations that choose Milwaukee as their home, so thanks NM!

Cancellation of Awesome Con Milwaukee is decidedly not awesome

For fans of anything popular culture -- from comics, movies, games, television and celebrities -- Awesome Con is a place to embrace the potpourri of geeky awesomeness. The convention, which touts itself as an up-and-coming Comic-Con of sorts, was set to take place in Milwaukee at the Wisconsin Center from Nov. 21-23, but faced with a set of logistical challenges, the con was cancelled this past Wednesday, just weeks away.

And after a conversation with Paul Upchurch, the president and CEO of Visit Milwaukee, it's clear that the number of rooms is still an issue.

Northwestern Mutual holds its 133rd annual meeting of the Association of Network Representatives in Milwaukee on July 20-24. The event draws 11,000 people from across the country, comprising members of Northwestern Mutual and their families. It's great for the city.

The 2012 annual meeting of the Organization of American Historians (OAH) and National Council on Public History (NCPH) takes place beginning today at the Frontier Airlines Center.

Moose International, a fraternal and service organization founded in 1888, has selected Milwaukee as the host city for its 2013 International Convention.
