Urban Spelunking: Michael Carpenter House/Hope Lutheran Parish House

You can see it even now as you drive past. Despite obvious changes, there's something about that big house next to the church on the corner of 35th and Highland. The church doesn't look that old, but enigmatic house sure does. That's Carpenter House, now the Hope Lutheran parish house, 1115 N. 35th St.

The topic of sports nicknames of the "lesser known" Milwaukee colleges and universities came up recently during my Bucks ticket draft. No one could name Carroll College's mascot. It's Carroll University now, by the way. Cardinal Stritch University? I got my MBA there and didn't even know it had sports, much less a mascot.


Concordia baseball to play first game under the lights

Concordia University Wisconsin will celebrate its new baseball facility and first official home game on campus under the new lights Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Carthage as part of an event known as "Concordia Under the Lights."
