Hidden in plain site, just north of Capitol Drive on Wilson, is an unassuming red brick building housing the North Shore American Legion Post #331. "Most people don't know that this is open to the public," says manager Diane Dowland, who's trying to change that.

After nearly 45 years, Rainbow Jersey Bicycles will close on March 28. Owner Jerry Pearce announced the news in a fondly nostalgic post shared on the local bike shop's Facebook page Monday. In the spirit of Pearce's reminiscence, I have some Rainbow Jersey Shorewood memories.


Shorewood hosts first "Shorewood Chill"

Ice skating in Shorewood is a longtime tradition and in honor of that, a group of dads who call themselves "The Lake Bluff Ice Captains" decided to organize "Shorewood Chill."
