Time capsule travels back to Milwaukee VA

After a long, circuitous route, along with a year-long delay due to health issues, a time capsule from 1963 that was unearthed during a construction project at the Milwaukee VA, was rediscovered in a garage on a dairy farm near Cashton, Wisconsin, about 30 miles east of La Crosse.

As work proceeds on converting architect Edward Townsend Mix's imposing hilltop "Old Main" building - and five others - on the grounds of the Milwaukee VA Soldiers Home Historic District campus into veterans housing, the Department of Veterans Affairs has issued Requests for Proposals on three nearby structures.

You can see Old Main's tower soaring above nearby Miller Park, reminding us of the solemn historical importance of the Milwaukee VA Soldiers Home. It's also a reminder that the oldest and most precious buildings at the site have long been in need of help. You can lend a hand.
