In February 2020, NEWaukee, Startup Milwaukee and The Commons will permanently launch Co:Lab - a civic accelerator that delivers a deeply engaging and experiential opportunity for a select group of Milwaukeeans to change their city for the better after a successful pilot program in 2019.

Voting still open for LISC's 2019 MANDI People's Choice Award

Winners of LISC Milwaukee's annual MANDI neighborhood development awards will be announced in an event on Thursday, April 11 at Potawatomi Hotel and Casino, at 4:30 p.m. Until then, the public can still vote for the People's Choice Award winner, which receives $1,000.

Safe & Sound announces new hires

In April, Safe & Sound welcomed William Coleman to the organization as Program Director. Coleman will direct Safe & Sound's teams dedicated to neighborhoods within four Milwaukee (police) districts and each made up of a youth organizer, a community organizer and a CPU coordinator.

North Avenue bridge over 30th Street rail closing June 2

The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works (DPW) announces that the West North Avenue Bridge over the Canadian Pacific railway from North 30th to North 31st streets will be closed and replaced beginning June 2.
