Fire Museum hosts big "reveal" of restored fire engine at fundraiser

The Milwaukee Fire Historical Society has been working to restore a 1949 Mack fire truck that was in service for more than 30 years. You can be among the first to see it when The Milwaukee Fire Historical Society (MFHS) hosts a "reveal" event as part of a fundraiser Friday, Feb. 16.

As its 8 a.m. deadline approached, Engine 6's firefighters packed up their belongings on Brady Street - where a firehouse first opened in 1875. Neighbors gathered to say goodbye to a firehouse whose members were deeply connected to the community.


Fire department changes are already taking place - some happen today

In September, news emerged that due to budget cuts, the Milwaukee Fire Department would be forced to undertake a series of closings, decommissionings and recommissionings. Some of those changes have already occurred, others go into effect today and the rest happen on Dec. 18.
