News reports about dairy farmers being forced to dump milk and produce have been joined by stories of craft brewers in Portland, Oregon, and South Carolina facing the same horror of seeing their product and profit go right down the drain as sales tank during the coronavirus shutdown. Are brewers here dumping beer?

When I visited 1840 Brewing Co., I found a brewery unlike any I'd seen. In fact, it's the only brewery I've visited that doesn't have brew kettles. With only a few fermentation tanks at the back, but a plethora of oak barrels, 1840 looks as much like a winery or distillery as a brewery.
