Reader, and former Milwaukeean, Edward Davidson shares some vintage Brew City photographs with OnMilwaukee.com readers. Davidson, whose family owned the Dreamland Ballroom on 3rd Street and Davidson Liquor on 28th and Lisbon, says: "These photos, with two exceptions, were shot in the winter of 1979 in and around Milwaukee. I was a student at UWM and shot these for an assignment. We were told to shoot, develop and print photos that showed examples of shape, form, space etc. I used a Nikon F2As with a 50-300mm lens. They were shot on Ilford 35mm film and processed and printed in the darkroom at UWM. "Milwaukee at the time had such a variety of architecture, from old buildings from the early 1900 to modern buildings. "The two color images included are from Davidson Brothers Liquor store, the business that my family ran from the 1950s until my dad sold the business in the late 1970s. In one photo my grandfather stands in front of the liquor store with his grocery store visible to the right. The other photo shows my grandmother standing in front of the window display."
