Trip Lee comes to Milwaukee Saturday night

My son, Jake, is 10. Like many his age, he's into sports and music and often tells my wife and I that in his world, "It's God, family, basketball, music and shoes." Guess, we're doing something right.

So, we were excited to see that Trip Lee's in town this weekend.

Lee, a rapper, singer, poet, author and teaching pastor at a church in Atlanta, takes the stage at Epikos Church, 6229 W. Greenfield Ave., in West Allis on Saturday. He's performing as a part of "Big Winter Weekend."

Lee's music has been on my son's playlist for years, and he's one of many positive rappers he loves. I've followed Lee's career, too, and we're excited to see him talk and perform on Saturday. He's won a Stellar award and been nominated for several Dove Awards. His last three albums have debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Gospel charts, and his most recent, "Rise," debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Rap charts and No. 16 on the Billboard 200.
