Sarah McLachlan and MSO join forces for BMO Harris Pavilion concert in August
Sarah McLachlan has one of the most iconic voices in popular music, and on Friday, Aug. 9, that voice will come to Milwaukee for a special concert at the BMO Harris Pavilion, joined on stage with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
McLachlan got her start in the late '80s, but it was during the '90s with the release of her albums "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" and "Surfacing" when McLachlan and her gentle emotional ballads became true superstars, creating massive hits like "Angel" – which became very popular as the song from the Nicolas Cage/Meg Ryan drama "City of Angels" – "I Will Remember You" and "When She Loved Me" from the soundtrack to "Toy Story 2."
During this era, she also scored three Grammy wins – Best Pop Instrumental Performance for "Last Dance" in 1998, as well as Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in that same year for "Building a Mystery" and in 2000 for "I Will Remember You (Live) – and helped create the famed Lilith Fair concert tour, combining many of the decade's most famous female singers and pop stars on one stage.
She's continued to work since that '90s apex – most recently releasing her second Christmas album, "Wonderland," in 2016 – and her music continues to live on.
Tickets for the special show with the MSO will go on sale Friday, March 22 at 10 a.m. Tickets can be bought at The Pabst Theatre Group's website, as well as purchased at the Summerfest box office in person, Ticketmaster ticket centers, select Walmart stores and over the phone at (800) 745-3000 for a live Ticketmaster Agent or (866) 448-7849 for the "Ticketmaster Express" automated phone line.
