All-star cast performs entire Violent Femmes debut for Pablove's 10th
A whole host of Milwaukee musicians will get together on Saturday, Jan. 26 at Turner Hall Ballroom to mark the 10th anniversary benefit show for the Pablove Foundation, which raises money to battle childhood cancer.
The foundation was launched by Milwaukee ex-pat Jeff Castelaz and Jo Ann Thrailkill when their son Pablo was diagnosed with cancer. After a year-long battle, Pablo died just after turning 6.
Every year since, Brew City has gotten together to honor Pablo and two give the middle finger to cancer.
This year's show, which starts at 7 p.m., includes a performance by L.A. band Voila and a reunion by Milwaukee's The Blow Pops. But perhaps most eye-catching is the news that the show will feature an "all-star singalong" of the 1983 self-titled debut album by the Violent Femmes.
A cast of more than a dozen local musicians will lend their voices as they combine to perform the "Violent Femmes" in its entirely, from "Blister in the Sun" straight on through "Good Feeling."
Whose on tap?
Abby Jeanne, Die Kreuzen's Dan Kubinski, Decibully's B.J. Seidel, Mark Waldoch, Eagle Trace's Mitchell Borgardt, Mike Benign, Liv Mueller and others.
Don't miss it.
