Halsey moves her Summerfest headliner show to 2021
The bad news: The Big Gig has lost another 2020 headlining act as Halsey announced today that she's nixed her North American summer tour this year due to concerns with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The silver lining: The Big Gig has gained another 2021 headliner as the "Without Me" and "New Americana" pop star already rescheduled her tour for next year – including her Summerfest headliner gig, which will now hit the American Family Insurance Amphitheater stage on July 3, 2021.
Halsey is now the second previously announced Big Gig headliner to shift to 2021, as Dave Matthews Band announced last week that their tour will come to Summerfest next July.
"As I'm sure many of you predicted, we are unfortunately going to have to reschedule the upcoming 2020 summer tour," said Halsey in a statement. "There's nothing more important to me than the safety and health of my fans. We're excited to announce summer 2021 dates with the same venues.
"Thank you for understanding. Touring is my favorite thing in the world, and I can't wait to see you again soon."
Those who've already purchased tickets for the show are asked to hold on to their original tickets, as they will be honored for the new 2021 Summerfest date. Those looking for a refund instead have 30 days from today's announcement to do so from the original point of purchase. If fans bought tickets from the Summerfest box office – which is currently closed due to the state's continuing Safer at Home order – they will have 30 days from the box office's reopening date to get a refund.
As for the rest of the festival, Summerfest is still on the docket for its rescheduled dates – Sept. 3-5, 10-12 and 17-19. Stay tuned to OnMilwaukee for more updates on the Big Gig and the rest of the summer festival season.
