Dave Matthews Band postpones Summerfest gig until 2021

The Big Gig may still be on the schedule for 2020, but one of its headlining acts is no longer. Dave Matthews Band today announced that, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, all of its summer dates for 2020 have been postponed until 2021 – including its Big Gig show, once set for July 2 this summer, now scheduled for July 1 next year.

"We are disappointed to announce, that in light of the global COVID-19 pandemic, we will be moving all of our 2020 summer dates to the summer of 2021," wrote the band in an official statement. "We make this decision with the health, safety, and well-being of our fans, touring crew, and venue staff as our priority.

"We are incredibly grateful for all of our fans who come out to see us every summer and will miss seeing you all. For now, we will keep everyone in our hearts and minds until we can be together again."

Those who've already purchased tickets for the show are asked to hold on to their original tickets, as they will be honored for the 2021 Summerfest date. Those looking for a refund instead have 30 days from today's announcement to do so from the original point of purchase. If fans bought tickets from the Summerfest box office – which is currently closed due to the state's Safer at Home order – they will have 30 days from the box office's reopening date to get a refund.

As for the rest of the festival, Summerfest is still on the docket for its rescheduled dates – Sept. 3-5, 10-12 and 17-19. Stay tuned to OnMilwaukee for more updates on the Big Gig and the rest of the summer festival season.
