The Oriental lassos special "Wonder Woman" showing for International Women's Day
It's never a bad time to watch "Wonder Woman." But if there was ever a perfect time to watch DC's smash superhero hit, it would be next Friday – International Women's Day, in the midst of Women's History Month. And the Oriental Theatre is here to help, teaming up with No Studios and Film Girl Film Festival for a special 70mm screening of "Wonder Woman" on March 8 at 6:30 p.m.
The 2017 groundbreaking comic book blockbuster is the hands down the best DC Extended Universe movie (which by the way, rest in peace, DCEU), and if we want to call that a low bar, it's also just a really well-done solo superhero story, fueled by an endlessly charming and blissfully empathetic star-making performance from Gal Gadot, a compelling and truly heroic story set in a unique setting, and Patty Jenkins' monumental direction, creating instantly iconic moments.
I mean, the No Man's Land sequence, anyone?
And now, you'll be able to relive that powerful moment – and the rest of the very good, very fun action movie – not only on the big screen, but in gorgeous and massive 70mm, using all of the size and power of the Oriental Theatre's main house.
Tickets are currently available at the theater's website; adult admission is $11, with senior tickets (60 and older) costing $9, children under 12 running for $6 and Milwaukee Film members receiving a discount as well. For more information, check out the Oriental Theatre's website.
And pst: While you're waiting for "Wonder Woman," perhaps check out the very good drug trafficking thriller "Birds of Passage" currently playing at the Oriental.
