The Marcus South Shore Cinema will open a drive-in location later this month.

Marcus Theatres will open a second Parking Lot Cinema drive-in in Oak Creek

Marcus Theatres may be planning to open several locations back up this weekend, but that doesn't mean the drive-ins are done. In fact, Marcus will open a second Parking Lot Cinema location this month, this time at the South Shore Cinema in Oak Creek.

As first reported by the Biz Times, Marcus plans to open the 125-spot drive-in on June 26.

The first Parking Lot Cinema location in Wisconsin opened outside the Marcus Majestic in Brookfield on May 29, showing double features on a 42-foot screen placed on the side of the theater. Movies start around 9 p.m. throughout the week, with the gates opening at 7 p.m., a 15-minute intermission between features, audio broadcast through an FM radio frequency and concessions available via contactless online ordering.

Tickets for the nightly double feature – mostly focused on showing retro hits and nostalgic classics – cost $25 per carload on Mondays through Thursdays and $30 per carload on weekends. Tickets will need to be bought either online or via the Marcus Theatres app.

As for movies inside the theater, Marcus Theatres is still planning to reopen four Wisconsin locations – the Ridge Cinema in New Berlin, Renaissance Cinema in Sturtevant, BistroPlex in Greendale and Grand Valley Cinema in Appleton – beginning Friday, June 19, showing films on weekends and Tuesdays at staggered showtimes and incorporating health and cleaning initiatives to contain COVID-19.

For more information on tickets and showtimes for the new Parking Lot Cinema at the South Shore, stay tuned to Marcus Theatres' website. And no matter whether you're inside or outside the theater, we'll see you at the movies.
