Let's do the time warp again: "Rocky Horror" sets return to Oriental Theatre
Ever since day one of Milwaukee Film announcing its takeover of the Oriental Theatre, there's been one question dogging the organization: Will they still show "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"?
Milwaukee Film's been very insistent that the iconic midnight movie – one that's called the Oriental Theatre home for the past 40 years – would continue to do so under its watch. And they weren't pulling our fishnet-wrapped legs, as "Rocky Horror" will make its glorious return to the Oriental big screen on Sept. 8.
News of the movie's return has been on display at the front of the Oriental Theatre's marquee, complete with the screening date, during the theater's month of repairs. But in addition to the date, Milwaukee Film confirmed today that "Rocky Horror" will, like before, be a regular monthly event at the Oriental every second Saturday of the month, complete with the Sensual Daydreams cast performing alongside the film and serving as its rowdy ringleaders.
Tickets are not yet on sale for the midnight show, but stay tuned to the Oriental Theatre's website for those to hit soon – and get your rice ready.
"Rocky Horror" joins the rest of the Oriental Theatre's opening schedule of bookings – an impressive list including the world premiere of a Betty White documentary, Spike Lee's fantastically furious "BlacKkKlansman," a showing of "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin" featuring a live score from RZA, Kubrick classics "Barry Lyndon" and "Full Metal Jacket" in 35mm, and much more. Plus, the bathrooms are getting fixed!
