In Movies & TV

"30 Rock" and "Love Actually" are just a few of the beloved TV shows and movies leaving Netflix in October.

Last call for "30 Rock," "Love Actually" and more on Netflix in October

I hope you finished your Netflix binge of, well, pretty much every television show out there, because the streaming service is losing a lot of your favorite TV programs next month.

"30 Rock," "Friday Night Lights," "One Tree Hill," "Louie," "Bones," "Family Guy" and more are all headed off the jolly red streaming giant in October – and that's not including the news that "How I Met Your Mother" will reportedly say its goodbye sometime this fall, as well.

And that's just the TV shows. Hit movies like "Titanic," "Love Actually," "Big Daddy," "The Shining," "Mulholland Dr." and more are also headed off Netflix next month – and many weren't even there that long to begin with. "The Shining" just scared its way onto Netflix in January, while "Titanic" sailed into the streaming service in ... July? Like two months ago?

Between this and the news blowing around about Disney pulling its movies (which also means Star Wars and Marvel movies) from the site to form its own streaming service, this is the new reality for Netflix.

More and more studios are taking back their content to make their own streaming programs, while Netflix would almost certainly rather spend its money on original content that you can only find on its site – and that it can own forever and completely – as opposed to paying out to other studios (studios that, from the outside, don't seem to like them very much at all) to share their shows and movies. This is the future – and with announcements like these, the future looks a lot like now.

And so, on that scary note, uh, happy Halloween from Netflix – and enjoy these movies and TV shows while you can!
