Mark your calendars, here are the dates for the 2018 Milwaukee Film Festival

It's never too early to start looking ahead toward the next Milwaukee Film Festival – just ask the fine folks at Milwaukee Film, who this morning announced the official dates for the 2018 edition.

The 2018 Milwaukee Film Festival will run from Oct. 18 through Nov. 1, a slight change for the annual fall event. Typically, the festival runs the last week of September through the first week of October, but Milwaukee Film noted it shifted the dates in the hopes of gaining access to movie premieres and noteworthy releases from big-name, premier film festivals like the Toronto International Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival and the Telluride Film Festival – all major awards season players.

No matter the films selected, however, Milwaukee Film and its supporters will have a lot to celebrate during next year's festival. Just a few months earlier, in July, Milwaukee Film will begin its ownership of the Oriental Theatre, while 2018 will also mark the 10th anniversary of the festival.

"We couldn't have reached this incredible milestone without the warm embrace of the Milwaukee community," said Milwaukee Film executive and artistic director Jonathan Jackson, in a press release. "Over the past 10 years, we have strived to bring the best independent and international cinema to the city, and our amazing audience, members, donors and sponsors have repaid us in kind, allowing for this period of unprecedented growth. We look forward to bringing the best in film to you for decades to come."

And we look forward to watching it, thanks to you, Milwaukee Film.
