Unique Boutique: Plastic-Free Holiday Pantry Pop Up
Milwaukee is filled with hidden retail gems boasting unique collections of housewares, clothing, jewelry and one-of-a-kind gift items. In this series, we're highlighting some of the best of the bunch and giving you all the information you need to shop smarter while supporting local artisans and business owners.
The Plastic-Free Holiday Pantry Pop Up takes place this weekend featuring local, eco-conscious businesses in partnership with Plastic-Free MKE, a group dedicated to the elimination of single-use plastics.
The event happens Saturday, Nov. 23, from 2 to. 6 p.m. at Siddhi Yoga Studio and MkeKitchen, 531 E. Keefe Ave. in Riverwest.
Items for sale will include gluten-free baking mixes, refillable soaps, elderberry syrup, shampoo bars, soup in a jar, coffee, spices and more.
"People will be able to stock their pantries before the holidays without the nasty-ass single use plastic that is showing up in our fish, clams, beer, water, air and soil," says Kathy Papineau, owner of MkeKitchen.
Other vendors selling at the event include Riverwest Co-op, Cassie's Natural Living, Community Bakers, Blessings Kombucha, Just Coffee, Viren Apothecary and Patra Dinnerware.
"This holiday event is something different that we think anyone would really enjoy," says Papineau.
