Council approves bonds needed to expand convention center
On Tuesday morning the Milwaukee Common Council approved the use of state moral obligation bonds for an expansion of the Wisconsin Center convention center in Westown.
According to the Wisconsin Center District which owns and operates the center, the City of Milwaukee is the sponsoring municipality for the state moral obligation bonds needed to fund the proposed expansion, which some say is necessary for Milwaukee to boost its convention business and, by extension, the city's economy.
In another step forward, the Wisconsin Center District announced in December that the architecture team of tvsdesign and EUA was hired to design the long-discussed expansion.
