Help finally bring Bublr Bikes to Riverwest

Bublr Bikes has 61 locations throughout the city of Milwaukee (including several over in Wauwatosa). But today, I found out that somehow, some way, not one – commonly known as zero, zilch, nada, bupkis, a goose egg or the complete absence of something – is in Riverwest. And friends, I am shook. Riverwest has the second-largest collection of bike-happy people behind the Tour de France. This is like discovering they don't sell Packers merch in Green Bay.

Well, somebody at Bublr seems to have noticed this egregious oversight, as today the non-profit bike share program announced a crowdfunding campaign to finally bring a bike station to the Riverwest neighborhood.

The campaign aims to raise $50,000 to completely fund the initial installation and ensuing upkeep necessary for a new nine-dock Bublr station to the neighborhood – and luckily, there's a lot of fun ways to help get the non-profit to that goal and get Riverwest nine shiny new pairs of wheels.

Of course, one can simply donate by visiting the crowdfunding site Ioby, with high-level donors receiving incentives such as personalization options on the station and actual bikes. You can also give your donation with a side of coffee, as Colectivo will sell Bublr-branded bags of coffee, with $1 of every bag sold going toward funding the new station.

And if that's not an exciting enough way to donate, Bublr is also throwing a party, Pedal Forward Riverwest, a launch event at Company Brewing starting at 10 p.m. (doors open at 9 p.m.) Thursday on Oct. 19, featuring door prizes, poetry from Kavon Cortez Jones and music from the local Afrobeat band Black and Mad. Cover charge is $10, with half of the proceeds going toward the new Riverwest station.

With all of those ways to help, there's only one question left: How will you help donate and get Riverwest some wheels? Actually also this question: HOW DID THIS TAKE SO LONG!?
