Hear "Because Science" host Kyle Hill explain Marvel superheroes

88Nine Labs, a Radio Milwaukee project sparked by DJ Tarik Moody, keeps pumping out fun and engaging science programming for kids of all ages, including hackathons, talks and more ... like the upcoming event, "The Science of Marvel: Kyle Hill on the Science Behind Superheroes."

Slated for 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 3 at 6 p.m. at Milwaukee Public Library's Centennial Hall, 733 N. 8th St., the event brings Marquette alum Kyle Hill back to town to talk about the science behind superheroes.

Perfectly timed to coincide with the arrival of "Captain Marvel" and the upcoming "Avengers: Endgame" flicks, the program will dig into how Captain Marvel can survive in space and the thermodynamics of Spider-Man.

Hill, who earned his bachelors of science in civil and environmental engineering from Marquette University in 2011, got a masters of arts in science communication there two years later, now lives in Los Angeles.

He is the science editor at and the host of the "Because Science" YouTube channel – which has nearly 900,000 subscribers – and has written for WIRED, Popular Science, Slate, Scientific American, Discover Magazine and The Boston Globe, has been tapped as a science expert by Fox News, Al Jazeera America, BBC World Service and Huffington Post Live, and has appeared on the Science Channel's "MythBusters: The Search" and "How to Build Everything," on Netfl's "Bill Nye Saves the World" and on Al Jazeera America's "TechKnow."

Hill will draw on math and science concepts to make Marvel comic and movie superheroes.

"I have been following Kyle Hill's YouTube channel, 'Because Science,' for years and I thought this would be great way to kick off this year's 88Nine Radio Milwaukee's tech initiative 88Nine Labs," Moody told me.

"Being a huge fan of comics and Marvel movies I thought this would be a great way to get young folks to look at science in a different way."

Admission is free but space is limited, so be sure to register here.

Sorry, no spaghett will be served.
