414 h/t to these Milwaukee limericks
On 414 Day, which was Sunday, we asked via our Facebook page for friends to write Milwaukee Limericks – just for fun and to celebrate Milwaukee and National Poetry Month.
We wrote this one:
There once was a guy from Milwaukee,
Who wanted to be a jockey,
But he had no horse,
that's a problem of course,
So he worked at Colectivo Coffee.
But we knew our readers could do better, and they did. Here are a few of our favorites:
We cheer for the Bucks and we mean it
So we went to the river and greened it
It made for good show
But the old timers know
That's what it looked like 'fore we cleaned it.
– Jesus Jose Villa
His first flight into Mitchell was Rocky
The birthplace of the famed Liberace
He'd never been here before
But knew from movie lore
It's actually pronounced Milly-wah-kay
– Timothy Trbovich
There once was a guy from the East Side
On the 30 bus he did ride
Because with no car
How would he land at the bar?
To watch Bernie go down the slide.
– Ryan Gundersen
