Shine a spotlight on your local SHEroes with the Milwaukee Rep and "Eclipsed"
The Milwaukee Repertory Theater has just begun its rehearsals for the powerful and poignant play, "Eclipsed."
The six-time Tony-nominated play – written by Danai Gurira, who you may know from pop culture powerhouse "The Walking Dead" or as the fierce general of the Dora Milaje in Marvel's "Black Panther," is a story about survival and sisterhood. The play follows five women who are all affected by a Liberian civil war and all that war brings to one's homeland. As they cope with the atrocities of war from a small room within a Liberian compound, they become one another's strength and support to persist.
In the spirit of recognizing the many women of color here in Milwaukee who have contributed to the growth and empowerment of others in our city, the Milwaukee Rep will highlight local "SHEroes" during the run of "Eclipsed." Nominations have been open since December 2019 and will conclude Friday, Feb. 7 – but there is still time to nominate your local SHEroes.
Per Milwaukee Repertory Theater guidelines, a SHEro must "identify as a woman of color, reside in the Greater Milwaukee area, must have been a resident for at least a year and must be working for the betterment of their communities and demonstrates the values of solidarity of joyful collaboration."

As for the show itself, "Eclipsed" – directed by May Adrales – runs at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater's Quadracci Powerhouse March 3-29. Tickets are available now at milwaukeerep.com.
