Milwaukee's Italian home, the Italian Community Center is just west of Henry Maier Festival Park. View historic photos, enjoy an Italian lunch or dinner at Cafe La Scala. You can event play bocce. Meeting and banquet rooms available. There is also free parking (except during festival events).

How Does Your Garden Grow?

What does it take to grow our food? Did you know that you can grow fruits and vegetables right in your own backyard? This 30-minute musical follows the adventures of a young gardener as they try to help their watermelon grow big and healthy enough to win the State Fair’s highest honor. Along the way, you will meet new friends, like Bart the Bee and Captain Compost, as they teach us about the water cycle, pollination, compost and other fun and amazing tips for planting your own garden. This show is “the bee’s knees!”

You are cordially invited to the 2019 IndependenceFirst Empower Lunch and Indie Awards presented by BMO Harris Bank, featuring Guest Speaker LeRoy Butler, as well as the presentation of the Indie Awards, which recognize excellence in accessibility, inclusion and advocacy. The event is a fundraiser in support of IndependenceFirst’s services empowering people with disabilities. Guest Speaker LeRoy Butler was born severely pigeon-toed and spent much of his early youth in a wheelchair. Doctors predicted that he would be lucky to ever walk unassisted. At the age of eight Butler discovered that he could not only walk, he could run pretty well. And so his incredible sports career began.
