My wife and I ate at Carnevor for the first time last week and we both had our doubts, considering the hype that surrounds this place. Upon sitting down, we came to understand what all the hype was about. We were greeted within minutes by one of two servers who pampered us from that point forward. Alex, the head server, really made the night memorable as well as entertaining. When we finally made up our mind (with helpful advice of the waitstaff) from the plethora of mouth-watering options, we waited patiently for our meal in all of its parts. First, the Tuna Tartare-AMAZING! high grade tuna plus a delicate balance of textures equals an awesome appetizer. Then the soup--neither my wife nor myself ever expected a pumpkin bisque with whipped marscapone cheese could be so delicious... It literally blew us away. Then, the main course-she had an excellently complex Trout seafood special and I had the New York strip. We had a few of their sides (the truffled mashed potatoes are to DIE FOR) and our meal was officially underway. The first bite was all the vindication that the hype surrounding Carnevor needed! If we had the money to afford this restaurant every week I am certain that we would become regulars! I have dined at all of the major steakhouses in the area and I can say without a doubt that this is the best one in Milwaukee. I recommend Carnevor to everyone I know that has not been there yet, including whoever is reading this right now--go make a reservation at Carnevor and you are certain to have an excellent meal.

Carnevor Steak House is my number one steak house to dine at in Milwaukee. The food is excellent, and my steak was cooked just how I asked/like it done. I was very impressed by the service and how friendly the workers were. It definitely enhanced my dining experience there a lot! This place is the place to come to for steaks! Without a doubt. It may be up there in price, but its for sure worth it! Carnevor is located in a great area as well.

I heart Carnevor! I used to be a huge Mo's fan, but not anymore. I love that it's non-smoking. The steaks are great, the seafood though, is probably the best I've ever had. Their BLT wedge salad is to die for, and they offer to have it chopped for you. They have mini twice baked red potatoes for a side and they are wonderful too. Everything we had was outstanding. The wine list was huge, many options. Service was friendly and attentive. The manager even stopped by to check on our meal. We will hopefully be returning soon.

Huge and impressive wine list. Pricey stuff, too. At most restaurants you can find many bottles between 40 and 50 dollars. Not here. Cheapest was 65 dollars. We popped for a 125 dollar bottle. This place is actually a wine store that also serves steaks. :-) We arrived at 7:30 on a Saturday night. Not too busy or too noisy. By the time we left at 9PM, it was very noisy. We had a hard time conversing...leaning in over the table to keep from shouting. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I thought my head was going to explode. Decor was sheek and cool. Trendy. Upscale, but not elegant. Patron attire ranged from sport coats to slobs in shorts and tee shirts. Steaks were unappetizingly delivered on a bare white plate. My filet was tender and had good flavor, yet lacked the char-broiling I prefer. My wife's "dry aged" New York Strip was supposed to be more flavorful than most...nothing to get excited about. Next time I should try the 160 dollar Kobe beef tenderloin...yeah, right. Service was very attentive, if not over-the-top. We concluded Carnevor is not worthy of a return trip. Glad we went, but there are many other competitive places to try before coming back. However, I would recommend someone goes to Carnevor once to see if they like it.

Atmosphere is solid. Nice change of pace when you want to grab a cocktail. Steak is average. 5 o'clock supper club by far has the best steak in town. Eddie Martini's is solid too. Now I agree with the previous comment, I would rather drop 200 duckets on a fantastic steak then eat an average steak hip joint anyday.
