Seems Five O'Clock Steakhouse is hitting a home run nationally with its supper club vibe.

Thrillist names Five O'Clock Steakhouse among best in nation

National publications are taking a hint from OnMilwaukee readers these days, it seems.

In our 2017 Dining Month Readers Poll, you selected Five O'Clock Steakhouse among your favorites in the city in two categories: Best Splurge and Best Steak (a category they've now taken for three years running).

As it turns out, the folks at Thrillist agree. This week, writer Matt Lynch named the popular steakhouse among the 31 best steakhouses in America. Better yet, it was the only steakhouse in Wisconsin to be highlighted. Lynch writes:

"Since 1946, the Five O'Clock has been delivering a combination of steakhouse elegance with the hospitality of a Midwest supper club. For the uninitiated, that means you order your meal from the bar as you enjoy your cocktail (a brandy Old Fashioned would be a wise move here), then settle into your table and graze on warm bread, salad, and a relish tray as you await the main attraction. Steaks are finished in a secret house marinade that renders them especially dark on the outside, providing a gorgeous contrast with the (hopefully, depending on how you ordered) bright red exterior. It's a steakhouse experience you won't find anywhere else."

Five O'Clock is a particular favorite among Thrillist writers, receiving at least five mentions in the online publication over the past couple of years. Earlier this year, Meredith Heil of Tasting Table also named Five O' Clock as one of the top steakhouses in America.
