There's a new sports bar on the way to Downtown Milwaukee.

New SportClub bar and restaurant will celebrate all things sports

In October, we brought you the news that the long-vacant Blackthorn Pub space at 750 N. Jefferson St. had been acquired by Mike Eitel, entrepreneur and owner of Nomad World Pub on Brady Street.

At the time, details were slim on the new concept coming to the space; however, we've since learned that the new venue will be called SportClub, and it's slated to be a sports bar and restaurant unlike any in the area.

According to Eitel and his team, the new venue will feature an area dedicated to stadium-style seating as well as a private micro-pub. The decor will reflect a design that reflects a 1950s inspired "varsity" feel.

In addition to a full bar, SportClub will also feature an extensive menu of globally inspired concession-style street food as well as a significant focus on celebratory beverages, most notably champagne.

There are already obvious changes taking place at the venue. Both the former signage and awnings have been removed and construction on the interior is in full swing. And that's a good thing. After all, Eitel notes he expects the bar and restaurant to be completed by March, just in time for NCAA March Madness.
